Milo Yiannopoulos was born Milo Hanrahan on October 18, 1984, in Chatham, Kent, England. His father is of half-Greek and half-Irish descent and his mother British. His parents divorced when he was a child.

Milo Yiannopoulos attended Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys in Canterbury, however, he was expelled. He also attended the University of Manchester but dropped out before graduating. Yiannopoulos then proceeded to read English at Wolfson College, Cambridge but was expelled in 2010.

Career

After dropping out of the University, Yiannopoulos landed a job at The Catholic Herald. In 2009, he switched jobs to The Daily Telegraph. Two years later, he co-founded The Kernel. However, in March 2013, The Kernel was shut down amidst allegations of unpaid wages. Later that year, the company re-opened under Kernel Media with Yiannopoulos remaining Editor-in-Chief.

In 2014, Daily Dot Media, the parent company of The Daily Dot acquired The Kernel for an undisclosed amount. After the acquisition, Yiannopoulos stepped down as editor-in-chief, however, he remained an adviser to the company.

In 2014, Yiannopoulos got a writing job with Breitbart News and was subsequently placed in charge of its new “Breitbart Tech” section. On 21 February 2017, Yiannopoulos resigned from his position.
