Early Life

Radric Delantic Davis professionally known as Gucci Mane was born on the 12th of February 1980, in Bessemer, Alabama. His father was a former U.S serviceman and power plant worker, and his mother a social worker and teacher.

His paternal grandfather, James Dudley, Sr., served in the military for 12 years, and his maternal grandfather, Walter Lee Davis, served in the Pacific during World War II, giving them a strong military background. Even his father served in the military and was stationed in Korea for two years.

Life After Prison

Mane served a year in prison for violating probation on his 2005 assault conviction. He changed his label’s name from So Icey Entertainment to 1017 Brick Squad Records when he came out of prison

Gucci was a drug dealer and was arrested for possession of cocaine in 2001, this was before he started his career as a rapper. After he was released from the county jail, he picked up music and took it more seriously, looking to pursue a career from it.
