Joe Keery attended River Valley Charter School, a local Montessori elementary and middle school, and Newburyport High School. Following his graduation from high school, Keery enrolled at DePaul University where he studied at The Theatre School and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting.
Career
After completing his studies at DePaul University, Keery began auditioning for different commercials, TV roles and films. He appeared in a KFC, Domino’s and amiibo commercial, and had roles in “Empire” and “Chicago Fire”. Keery landed his first appearance in a full-length film as Gabe in “Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party” in 2015.
His breakthrough role came in 2016 when he was cast as Steve Harrington in the Netflix series “Stranger Things”.
