Lawrence Alan Kudlow was born on August 20, 1947, in Englewood, New Jersey, United States of America. His father’s name is Irving Howard Kudlow and his mother’s name is Ruth Kudlow. Larry was raised in a Jewish family.
Education
Larry Kudlow attended Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey until the sixth grade. He also attended the Dwight-Englewood School. After graduation from high school, Kudlow enrolled at the University of Rochester in New York where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in history in 1969.
In 1971, Kudlow enrolled on a master’s program at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, however, he left before he could complete his degree.
Career
Kudlow’s entry into politics began in 1970 when he joined Americans for Democratic Action chair Joseph Duffey’s “New Politics” senatorial campaign in Connecticut. In 1976, he worked on the U.S. Senate campaign of Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
Thereafter, he began his career as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Between 1981 to 1985, Kudlow was associate director for economics and planning in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), a part of the Executive Office of the President.
In March 2018, Kudlow was appointed by Donald Trump to be Director of the National Economic Council.
Kudlow has also been involved in media. In May 2001, he became Economics Editor at National Review Online (NRO). He also served as one of a rotating set of hosts on the CNBC show “America Now” which began airing in November 2001.
In May 2002, the show was renamed “Kudlow & Cramer” and Kudlow and Jim Cramer became the permanent hosts. Following the departure of Cramer to host his own show, the program’s name was changed to “Kudlow & Company”. The program took a break in October 2008 and returned in January 2009 as “The Kudlow Report”, and ended its run in March 2014.
Larry Kudlow is also a regular guest on “Squawk Box”. Kudlow also appeared in The John Batchelor Show. In February 2021, Kudlow joined Fox Business Network to host a new weekday program.
