Tara Lyn Subkoff was born on December 10, 1972, in Westport, Connecticut, United States. Her father, George Subkoff was an antique dealer who owned a store on 13th Street in Manhattan and her mother was a schoolteacher in East Harlem.
Tara has a brother named Daniel Subkoff.
Education
Tara Subkoff attended Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts. After graduation, she enrolled at Parsons School of Design but dropped out within a year of enrolling. In 1991, she moved to Los Angeles, California to study acting.
Career
Tara Subkoff made her acting debut in 1994 on the television “Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman”. Thereafter, she landed a lead role in the 1994 crime thriller “When The Bough Breaks”. In 1996, she had a supporting role in the film “Freeway”, and in the horror film “Black Circle Boys”.
In 1997, Subkoff starred in the films “All Over Me”, “Lover Girl”, and “As Good as It Gets. The following year, she starred in “The Last Days of Disco”. In 2003, Subkoff appeared in the film “The Cell”.
In 2000, Subkoff began working on a new project called Imitation of Christ with designer Matt Damhave. Every piece of clothing in the line was sewn by hand and recycled from vintage, thrift and Goodwill shops.
In 2007, she sold the label to Josh Sparks for a reported $2 million. A year later, the label went out of business. However, in 2012, Subkoff revived the label and rebranded the label to “Imitation”.
In 2013, she collaborated with Milla Jovovich on the film titled ‘Future/Perfect”. Subkoff also had minor appearances in the film including “Tanner Hall” and “Abandoned”. In 2014, Subkoff made her directorial debut in the horror film “Horror”.
