Early Life
Marcus Lamb was born on October 7, 1957, in Macon, Georgia, United States of America. Growing up, He attended the East Macon church of God. At the age of five, he became a Christian and was committed to church work and attendance. At age fifteen, he began to preach as an evangelist.
He graduated from high school and enrolled in Lee College, a Tennessee-based Christian university, and graduated three years later.
Career
In 1980, Marcus Lamb founded ‘The Word of God Fellowship’, the company that eventually give birth to ‘Daystar Television Network’. In 1984, Marcus moved to Montgomery, Alabama to begin WMCF-TV, the first full-power Christian station in the state. They (Marcus and his wife) sold the station to Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) in 1990 and then moved to Dallas, Texas.
Marcus Lamb launched the Daystar network in 1997 and it has since grown to become the second-largest Christian TV network in the world.
Personal Life
Marcus Lamb married Joni Trammell in 1982. They spent their early years of marriage visiting churches to teach them the gospel as travel evangelists. Together, the couple has three children Jonathan, Rachel, and Rebecca.
In November 2010, Marcus Lamb made a confession on Daystar Network where he admitted that he had an extramarital affair and had ended it several years before. With the help of marriage counselors, he and his wife reconciled fully. The matter was kept private as equally advised by their marriage counselors, until, according to their claim, three women attempted blackmail by asking for $7.5 million in exchange for silence on the matter. By sharing publicly on TV, the Lambs refused to pay anything, and shortly after, the three employees’ claims were either dropped or thrown out.
Lamb died after contracting COVID-19, on November 30, 2021, at the age of 64. Daystar Television Network announced Lamb’s death on Twitter on Tuesday and it was confirmed by his wife during a morning broadcast on the network they founded together.
