Candy Ken wanted to create something unique to give a special expression to his singing so he created and built the gender-bending persona of Candy Ken while still at college. For the character he created, Ken drew inspiration from Hello Kitty, Japanese Kawaii culture, Barbie dolls, and pink clothing in his dress style and visual appearance.
In 2014, Ken released on YouTube his first EP, “Welcome to Candy Land”, which was a self-directed video series on YouTube. The EP was produced by Lets Go Radio and distributed by Spinnup.
The video series was re-made into an award-winning short film with the same title and it won an award at the Austrian short film festival Alpinale in 2015.
Since then, Candy Ken has released other EPs including “Basic Bitches”, “Candy Ken Paradise”, “Daddy69”, “Candy Trap”, and “Send Nudes”. In 2016, Ken released his debut studio album titled “Real Talk”. Two years later, he released another studio album titled “Flamingo”.
