Gayle King was born on December 28, 1954, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States of America. Her father, Scott King was an electrical engineer for the federal government and her mother, Peggy King was a homemaker.
Gayle is the eldest of four sisters. King and her family spent several years in Ankara, Turkey before moving back to the United States.
