Her first position was at the ABC-affiliated television station WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia. She worked as a political commentator and co-anchor for the network. She relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1992 to work as a media pundit at WCPO-TV.
Additionally, Carlson worked for stations in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and Cleveland, Ohio. In 2000, Carlson was hired as a national correspondent for the first time on television. Later, in 2002, she was chosen to co-anchor CBS’s “The Early Show” on Saturdays. There, Russ Mitchell served as her co-anchor.
