Charles V. Payne was born on November 15, 1960, in the United States. There is no information regarding his parents and siblings. At age 17, Payne joined the United States Air Force where he served as a security policeman stationed at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota.

Charles Payne began his career in 1985 on Wall Street as a financial analyst with E.F. Hutton. With experience and growth gathered at E. F. Hutton, Payne founded his own stock market research firm in 1991. Payne called it “Wall Street Strategies” and he remains the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Financial Analyst to date.
In 1999, there was a complaint that “Wall Street Strategies” had advised their clientele to purchase stock from a company on eight different occasions. The Complainants suggested that Payne did not disclose that they had received money from the company so as to promote their shares. Payne did not admit nor deny the allegation but agreed to pay the civil penalty of $25,000.
In 2007, Payne released his first book titled “Be Smart, Act Fast, Get Rich: Your Game Plan for Getting It Right in the Stock Market.” Later that year, Payne joined Fox Business as a contributor. In 2014, Payne became the host of “Making Money with Charles Payne.”
Sadly, sometime in July 2017, Payne was accused of Rape by a former network guest, Scottie Nell Hughes and was thus suspended by Fox Business pending an investigation. Payne denied the allegation adding that he had had a three-year-long relationship with Hughes. Payne’s suspension was lifted on September 8, 2017.
