Chief Keef is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter with an estimated net worth of $2 million. Early Life
Chief Keef was born Keith Farrelle Cozart on August 15, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. His father’s name is Alfonso Cozart and his mother’s name is Lolita Carter. His mother gave birth to him when she was 15 and he is named after his deceased uncle, Keith Carter who was also known as “Big Keef”.
Chief Keef lived at the Parkway Garden Homes in the Washington Park neighbourhood. He grew up with his grandmother who lived in Chicago.
Education
Chief Keef attended Dulles Elementary School and the Banner School, a therapeutic day school. He did not complete high school as he dropped out of Dyett High School at age 15.
Career
Chief Keef first gained attention in 2011 with his mixtapes, “The Glory Road” and “Bang”. In December 2011, he was arrested for firing a gun from his car and was subsequently placed under house arrest at his grandmother’s home for 30 days. While under house arrest, Keef posted several videos to his YouTube channel.
His song “I Don’t Like” became a hit in Chicago. The song also caught Kanye West’s attention who went ahead to remix the song. This shot Chief Kiss into the limelight.
Following a bidding way among record labels for his signature, Chief Keef finally signed with Interscope Records in a deal worth $6 million over a three-album layout. He was also promised his own label imprint, Glory Boyz Entertainment (GBE) with an additional $440,000 advance to establish it.
