Jonathan Lyndale Kirk was born on December 22, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. In 1999, his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where he spent most of his early years. He is the youngest of three brothers. He lost his brother Glen Johnson in November 2020.
For his education, Jonathan attended Julius L. Chambers High School graduating in 2010. He then proceeded to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for two years. He dropped out before he could finish college, saying he went to college for his parents’ sake.

DaBaby started his music career in 2015 by dropping his debut mixtape “Nonfiction”. Kirk started performing under the stage name Baby Jesus, but he later change the name.
