Edward Rubin Griffin was born on July 15, 1968, in Kansas City, Missouri, United States of America. His father is Eddie Griffin, Sr., and his mother, Doris Thomas. Edward was raised by his single mother who worked as a phone company operator.
He has two siblings, Luther Griffin and Wilbert Griffin. At age 16, Griffin moved to Compton, California to reside with his cousins. He was later enlisted in the U.S. Navy, however, was discharged within months for using marijuana.
For his education, Eddie Griffin attended Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Compton High School. Thereafter, he enrolled as a biological engineering major at the University of Miami, in Florida.
Career
Griffin started his comedy career at a nightclub in 1989 when he hopped onstage on a bet and earned a standing ovation with family stories. He soon achieved success in standup and became legendary at The Comedy Store for his open mic nights.
He soon started having television appearances. Griffin appeared in the films “The Meteor Man”, “The Walking Dead”, “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo”, “Double Take”, “Undercover Brother”, “John Q”, “Scary Movie 3″ Urban Justice”, “Norbit” amongst others.
