Kelly Brianne was born on April 24, 1982, in Forth Worth, Texas, United States. Her father, Stephen Michael Clarkson was an engineer and her mother, Jeanne Ann was a first-grade English teacher. Her parents divorced when she was six years old.
Kelly has two siblings: an older brother, Jason and an older sister, Alyssa. She also has two younger half-brothers from her father’s second marriage. Clarkson was raised Southern Baptist.

Kelly Clarkson attended Pauline Hughes Middle School. She graduated from Burleson High School in 2000.
