Megyn Marie Kelly was born on November 18, 1970, in Champaign, Illinois, United States of America. Her father Edward Kelly was a college professor at the State University of New York at Albany and her mother, Linda Kelly, was a homemaker.
Megyn is of Italian and German descent from her mother’s side and Irish descent from her father’s side. She was also brought up in a Catholic home.
Education
Megyn Kelly attended Tecumseh Elementary School in suburban Syracuse, New York. When her family moved to New York, she attended Bethlehem Central High School. Thereafter, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. In 1995, she earned a J.D. from Albany Law School.
Career
Kelly started off her career as an associate in the Chicago office of the law firm Bickel & Brewer LLP. Thereafter, she worked at Jones Day for nine years.
In 2003, Kelly relocated to Washington, D.C. where she got a job with the ABC affiliate WJLA-TV as a general assignment reporter. A year later, she applied for a job at Fox News. She contributed to legal segments for other shows while hosting her own legal segment, Kelly’s Court during Weekend Live.
On February 1, 2010, Kelly began hosting her own afternoon show, America Live. She was also a guest panellist on Fox News late-night satire program Red Eye w/Greg Gutfield.
On October 7, 2013, she began hosting a new nightly program, The Kelly File. Kelly left Fox News in 2017 for a tripe role at NBC News which would include a daytime talk show, a Sunday-night newsmagazine, and becoming a correspondent for major news events and political coverage.
On June 4, 2017, her Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly show premiered and in September 2017, her daytime talk show, Megyn Kelly Today also premiered. On October 26, 2018, Megyn Kelly Today was cancelled by NBC. Her contract was also terminated by NBC on January 11, 2019.
In September 2020, Kelly launched her media production company, Devil May Care Media. The company premiered the first episode of the podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show. Subsequently, the podcast moved to Sirius XM.
