He has four siblings sisters, Cathy Curtis, Ann Walker, Jenny Doocy, and Lisa Doocy. Doocy is of Irish descent from his father’s side and Swedish descent from his mother’s side.
For his education, Steve Doocey attended Kansas grade schools in Russell, Salina, and Industry. He went to junior high in Wakefield and high school in Clay Center, Kansas. Following his graduation, he enrolled at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Journalism.
Career
Doocy began his journey in journalism as a reporter in TV stations in Topeka, Des Moines, Wichita, and Kansas City. Doocy’s first major market assignment was as a features reporter for WRC, in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, he was named host of NBC’s program “House Party with Steve Doocy”.
In 1994, Doocy landed his first morning show job, as the co-host of “Wake Up America” on NBC’s America’s Talking channel. In 1996, he was made the anchored of the morning newscast on CBS-TV’s flagship station, WCBS-TV. Doocy was the live Times Square reporter on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC-TV for four-ball drops.
In 1996, Doocey joined Fox News Channel, where he began co-hosting the network’s morning show “Fox & Friends” 1998. By 2004, Doocy created other shows for Fox News Channel like “New Year’s Eve special,” and “All American New Year.”
