Tony Dokoupil was born on December 24, 1980, in Connecticut, United States of America. His father Anthony Edward Dokoupil a prolific drug smuggler and dealer who uses real estate as a front and his mother, Ann Dokoupil was a teacher.
His father disappeared when he was six and his mother took full custody after his father was not found for some time.
Education
Tony Dokoupil attended Gulliver School in Miami. However, his mother moved back to Maryland when he was six, where he attended Severna Park High School. After graduating from high school, Dokoupil enrolled to study business at George Washington University, graduating first in his class. He also obtained a master’s degree in media studies from Columbia University.
Career
Tony Dokoupil started his Journalism career as a senior writer at Newsweek magazine and the website The Daily Beast. Thereafter, he joined NBC News as a senior writer in September 2013. On April 1, 2014, Dokoupil released a memoir titled The Last Pirate: A Father, His Son, and the Golden Age of Marijuana.
In July 2015, Dokoupil joined MSNBC as a reporter. Dokoupil left MSNBC in 2016 to join CBS News as a New York-based correspondent. On May 6, 2019, he was named the new co-anchor of the morning program CBS This Morning. In September 2021, the program was renamed CBS Mornings.
