Juaquin James Malphurs was born May 31, 1986, in South Jamaica, Queens, New York City, United States. His father, Rahleek Malphurs Sr was imprisoned for the major part of his life and died from kidney failure after being released and his mother, Debra Antney is an entertainment manager and the founder and CEO of Mizay Entertainment.
His family relocated to Riverdale, Georgia. Flame has older siblings who are alive.

Flame broke even after he released the single “O Let’s Do It” in 2009, which reached peaked at No. 62 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Flame is a member of the 1017 Brick Squad along with talents like Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Frenchie, and Wooh Da Kid.
On October 1, 2010, Flame’s debut album, “Flockaveli”, also made a critical success as it debuted at No. 6 on the US Billboard 200.
Gucci Mane, Flame’s mother’s client, fired Flame’s mother as his manager. Flame and Gucci Mane claim there are no issues because of the retrenchment. Sometime earlier in August 2011, the duo worked on an album together “Ferrari Boyz”.
