Rayshawn Lamar Bennett was born February 16, 1991, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. His parents are Jamaican who had immigrated to the USA. Rayshawn has an older brother, YFN Kay who is also a rapper. Together, they were raised by his single mother in a low-income household.
Lucci’s interest in singing and rapping dates back to his preteen days as he grew up listening to artists such as Tupac, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, The Diplomats, Ja Rule, Hot Boys, T.I., Jeezy, and Fabolous.

Shortly after he signed a record deal in December 2014 with Think It’s A Game Entertainment, Lucci released his first mixtape “Wish Me Well”. Two years, in February 2016, he released “Wish Me Well 2”, his second mixtape, which peaked at number 183 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
One of the singles of the mixtape, “Key to the Streets”, featured Migos and Trouble and peaked at number 70 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The official remix of the song had guest appearances like 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, and Quavo.
“Key to the Streets” was included on XXL magazine’s 50 Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2016 list and Vibe magazine’s The 60 Best Songs Of 2016 list. In April 2017, Lucci released his first extended play, “Long Live Nut”, with guest appearances like Rick Ross, Dreezy, PnB Rock, Lil Durk, Boosie Badazz, and YFN Trae Pound. The EP was a critical success in that it debuted at number 27 on the Billboard 200.
