Emmitt James Smith III was born on May 15, 1969, at Pensacola, Florida, United States. He is the son of Emmitt Smith Jr. and Mary J. Smith. He started playing football at the tender age of eight.
For his education, Emmitt attended Escambia High School, Pensacola, where he also played high school football. In 1996, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in public recreation from the University of Florida.
Career
Emmitt Smith began his career in college in 1987, while studying at the University. He forewent his senior year after playing for three seasons. The Dallas Cowboys selected him in their first round of its NFL draft in 1990. Emmitt’s career with them ended and he was released in February 2003.
Emmitt Smith went ahead to join Arizona Cardinals, and he signed a two-year contract with them as a free agent.
On 3rd February 2005, he announced his retirement from NFL and became a studio analyst on the NFL Total Access show of the NFL in the same year.
Smith holds many records during his playing career. He currently holds the NFL record in career rushing yards with 18,355. He also leads all running backs with 164 career rushing touchdowns, and his 175 total touchdowns rank him second only to Jerry Rice’s 208.

He also co-founded ESmith Legacy, a Baltimore-based company that specializes in commercial real estate development and investment management. Smith currently serves as its Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
In 2016, Smith co-founded The Gents Place, an ultra-premium men’s grooming and lifestyle club founded in Frisco, Texas. The company has grown to include lifestyle clubs in Dallas and Southlake, as well as Leawood, Kansas.
