Bryson James Aldrich DeChambeau was born on September 16, 1993, in Modesto, California, United States of America. His father is John Howard Aldrich DeChambeau and his mother, Janet Louise Druffel. DeChambeau has a brother named Garrett DeChambeau, who plays golf. Bryson and his family moved to Clovis, east of Fresno when he was seven.
For his education, Bryson DeChambeau attended Clovis East High School where he won the California State Junior Championship at age 16 in 2010. Following his graduation in2012, he accepted a scholarship to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he majored in Physics.
In June 2015, DeChambeau was the first SMU Mustang (a slang for Sothern Methodist University Students) to win the NCAA individual championship. DeChambeau also won the U.S. Amateur title, over Derek Bard in August the same year.
Career
DeChambeau made his PGA Tour debut as an amateur in June 2015 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic near Memphis, Tennessee, though he finished in 45th place. DeChambeau was unable to defend his NCAA title in 2016 after the SMU athletic department was handed a postseason ban by the NCAA.
At the 2015 Australian Masters in November, DeChambeau was runner-up with John Senden and Andrew Evans, two shots behind the winner Peter Senior. At that time, he was the low amateur at the Masters in 2016 but immediately after the Masters in mid-April 2016, DeChambeau turned professional and signed a long-term agreement with Cobra-Puma Golf.
DeChambeau’s big break came on July 16, 2017, when he won his first PGA Tour victory by a single stroke over Patrick Rodgers. With this victory, DeChambeau gained a place in the 2017 Open Championship.
