Kayleigh McEnany was born on April 18, 1988, in Tampa, Florida, United States of America. Her father, Michael McEnany is a commercial roofing company owner and her mother, Leanne McEnany is a homemaker.
Education
Kayleigh McEnany attended the Academy of the Holy Names, a private Catholic school in Tampa. After graduating, she enrolled to study international politics at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. and studied abroad at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford. After graduating from the university, McEnany worked as a producer on the Mike Huckabee show for three years.
Thereafter, she enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law, before transferring to Harvard Law School after completing her first (1L) year at the University of Miami. McEnany graduated from Havard law school in 2016.
Career
While at college, McEnany interned and worked with politicians like Tom Gallagher, Adam Putnam, and George W. Bush. McEnany also worked in the White House Office of Communications, where she wrote media briefings. McEnany’s first featured appearance was while in law school. She appeared on CNN as a paid commentator.
In 2015, McEnany was very critical of Donald Trump but the tides changed in the 2016 presidential election. McEnany has been closely associated with the Republican Party since she was in college.
After Mark Meadows replaced Mick Mulvaney as White House chief of staff in April 2020, McEnany was hired as White House press secretary on April 7, 2020, which was officially announced the next day. McEnany spent no time making it clear that she was out to stand and defend her boss, and she did so notoriously.
After the 2020 presidential election, McEnany spread false claims of election result tampering because the result did not favour her boss. Her career as Press Secretary ended as soon as the Biden Administration was inaugurated.
On March 2, 2021, McEnany joined Fox News as an on-air contributor. She was later named co-host of the show Outnumbered alongside Harris Faulkner and Emily Compagno.
