Career

After high school, Lil Jon worked with a DJ in popular downtown Atlanta clubs. There he met Atlanta music producer, Jermaine Dupri who recruited him as an A&R to the music label So So Def. Subsequently, Lil Jon was promoted to Executive Vice President of A&R.

In addition to his record label commitments, Lil Jon was also a radio personality/DJ on the Atlanta radio station, V-103. Lil Jon also collaborated with Big Sam and Lil’ Bo to form a musical rap group, the East Side Boyz. In 1996, the group released their debut single, “Who U Wit?”.

The following year, the group released their debut studio album “Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album”. In 2000, the group released their breakthrough album “We Still Crunk!”. Two years later, the group signed to TVT Records and then released the album “Put Yo Hood Up”.

The group also released their sophomore studio album “Kings of Crunk” which was certified multi-platinum by the RIAA in August 2004. In 2004, the group released their last studio album “Crunk Juice” with the lead single “What U Goin’ Do” peaking at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group was disbanded amidst creative and financial conflicts with TVT.
