Norah Morahan O’Donnell was born on January 23, 1974, in Washington, D.C., United States of America. Her father Francis Lawrence O’Donnell was a doctor and US Army officer and her mother, Noreen Bernadette was a homemaker. O’Donnell is of Irish descent.
O’Donnell lived with her parents in San Antonio, Texas and in Seoul, South Korea. Norah has two sisters; Francis O’Donnell and Mary O’Donnell.

Norah O’Donnell started her career as a staff writer for Roll Call, where she covered Congress. In 1999, she joined the NBC networks. She became a commentator for the Today Show, Chief Washington Correspondent for SNBC, and a White House correspondent for NBC News.
O’Donnell was also a contributing anchor for MSNBC Live and an anchor for Weekend Today. She reported for various NBC News broadcasts including NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, Dateline NBC, and MSNBC.
