Phil Dalhausser attended Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. He started playing volleyball in his senior year in high school. After his graduation from high school, he enrolled at the University of Central Florida where he earned a business degree.

Career

Phil Dalhausser worked for a concrete company after earning a business degree from the University of Central Florida.

In 2006, he began playing with Todd Rogers. Rogers, who had been playing on the AVP circuit for eleven years, helped Dalhausser learn the ropes. In 2007, they won the FIVB World Championships in Switzerland, becoming the first American duo to do so. They then went on to win Gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Going into the 2012 Olympics, they were early favourites but were subsequently defeated by Italy in the Round of 16.

He was named Best Setter on the Men’s FIVB World Tour four straight years from 2009 to 2012.

At the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena made it into the quarterfinals match where they played against Brazil’s top-ranked team of 6-foot-8 Alison “The Mammoth” Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt. There they were eliminated by a 2-1 (21-14, 12-21, 15-9) scoreline, by the hometown’s favourite team.

Dalhausser paired up with Nick Lucena for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, winning their debut match against Tunisia in straight sets.
