Xavier Lamar Dotson was born on January 12, 1980, in Frankfurt, West Germany. His father, Mr Dotson was working for the Army and also a preacher, and his mother was a homemaker. Xavier is the oldest of four siblings.
He learned to play instruments through the church bands along with his siblings. Dotson and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

Career
Zaytoven started his career by making beats at JT the Bigga Figga’s studio. Thereafter, he started selling beats to JT and went on to collaborate with Bay Area artists such as Messy Marv and E-40. Zaytoven also got a job as a barber where he saved up money to buy equipment for production.
Thereafter, he moved to Atlanta where he enrolled in a local barber college and got a job as a barber to help finance the rest of his studio. While in barber school, he was introduced to Gucci Mane. Together, they started working on different music beats.
In 2005, the duo gained mainstream recognition from their hit song “Icy”. Thereafter, Zaytoven produced the hit song “Papers” with Usher in 2010 on Usher’s certified platinum album “Raymond v. Raymond”. His work on the album earned him a Grammy Award in 2011.
